Community Action Planning

During the summer of 2022, we started our chapter off with 3 community action planning meetings. With help from community youth, we found what to focus our efforts on for our first year and where to focus our efforts.

In our third CAP meeting, we invited adult community members to hear our plan, and help support our efforts.

CAP 1

In the first CAP meeting, we invited youth from Flourish Prep I and Prep II internships, as well as other community youth, to share what issues they felt are most important. The top votes were for life skill classes to improve youth mental health and safe spaces for youth to reduce youth violence.

CAP 2

In the CAP 2 meeting, youth in the community discussed the details of the strategies including what topics of life skill classes and what neighborhoods / schools to focus on.

CAP 3

In the CAP 3 meeting, the Youth MOVE Leadership Committee presented the results of CAP 1 and CAP 2 to adult stakeholders in the community, such as city officials, school staff/admin, mental health providers, and representatives from other community resources. We got feedback on our strategies and plan going forward, as well as identified supporters who can help.
